* Home or community-based care - primary health programmes that focus on physical and emotional wellbeing
* Palliative care - care for people who are terminally ill
* Adult support groups
* Support groups for orphans and vulnerable children
* Various community organisations, NGOs and faith-based organisations
* Medical and financial assistance from government departments
* Support from family and friends
* Support for family and friends
Some hospices and care programmes provide a home service. Trained sisters visit patients and families in their own homes. They consult with the patient's doctor to get the right treatment for pain and symptoms. They teach the family basic nursing tasks. They also provide emotional support for the patient and family.
