6.6. How often will I have to take ARVs?

You will have to take these medicines as prescribed for the rest of your life. If you take every pill at the right time, it should stop the virus from multiplying or growing. It is very important to take every pill (tablet) at the right time as prescribed every day. This is called adherence.
Once you start with AIDS medicine, you can never stop taking it - it is a lifetime commitment. The medicine will make you live longer and improve your quality of life.
